Myanmar's import of mines blocked
Source: | Author:No | Published time: 2018-12-06 | 230 Views | Share:

The import of mines in Myanmar is blocked, and the supply side has a big impact. From January to October 2018, my country's total import of mixed rare earth carbonate was 27,160 tons, of which 23,949 tons were imported from Myanmar, accounting for 88%.

The rare earth ore imported from Myanmar is mainly ionic rare earth raw ore, which is currently the main source of domestic medium and heavy rare earth ore supply, accounting for more than 50% of the domestic supply, which directly affects the domestic medium and heavy rare earth output, resulting in the price of medium and heavy rare earth. Variety.

The rare earth content of rare earth mines in Myanmar is about 85%, of which the content of praseodymium neodymium is 26-28%, the content of dysprosium is 3.5-4.5%, and the content of terbium is 0.6-0.8%. According to the total amount imported from Myanmar in the first 10 months, the Myanmar praseodymium neodymium oxide is calculated. The import volume is 5,496 tons, the import volume of dysprosium oxide is 814 tons, and the import volume of terbium oxide is 142 tons. The import volume of dysprosium and terbium accounts for nearly 50% of the total domestic market demand.

The Myanmar mine is blocked + the separation enterprise is overhauled + the output of Lynas is lower than expected, and the supply of praseodymium and neodymium oxide may be halved in December. Domestically, relevant sources revealed that in December 2018, the rare earth separation enterprise in Baotou and the rare earth separation plant in Sichuan announced the suspension of production and maintenance, which directly affected the monthly production of praseodymium and neodymium oxide decreased by about 1,500 tons.

In terms of imported mines in Myanmar, it has been confirmed that the China-Myanmar ports have not returned to normal. For example, rare earth mines still failed to be imported normally in December. Based on the monthly import of 2,000 tons of mines in Myanmar, the output of praseodymium and neodymium oxide has dropped by about 450 tons, and the output of dysprosium oxide has dropped by about 450 tons. 70 tons, and the output of terbium oxide decreased by 10 tons. In the international market, in December 2018, Lynas announced that the production of praseodymium and neodymium oxide decreased by 400 tons.

According to the above statistics, the global output of neodymium praseodymium oxide will drop by about 2,350 tons in December. At present, the monthly consumption of neodymium praseodymium oxide is around 5,000 tons, and the output has dropped by nearly 50%, which will inevitably support the price rise of neodymium praseodymium oxide.

Eight ministries and commissions have been reorganized and restarted, and it is difficult for the supply of black rare earths to make a comeback. On October 30, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and other eight ministries and commissions issued a notice that they will jointly carry out further rectification in the eight provinces and cities that are the main producing areas of rare earths across the country. We believe that even if this inspection will not lead to the shutdown of more companies on the supply side, it will conduct another inspection and control of black rare earths to prevent the supply of black rare earths from making a comeback.
